These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the RideRoots platform and services. RideRoots Limited [Company Number: XXXXXXXX] is registered in England and Wales with its registered office at [Registered Address].
Regulatory Status: RideRoots Limited is an Appointed Representative of [Principal Firm Name], which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA Reference: XXXXXX). You can check this on the Financial Services Register by visiting the FCA's website.
Nature of the Product: RideRoots provides parametric micro-insurance for commuters. This means that payouts are triggered automatically based on objective third-party data (specifically, Transport for London's disruption API), rather than an assessment of your individual financial loss. If a predefined disruption event occurs on your registered route, you are entitled to a payout regardless of the actual cost incurred by the delay.
To use the RideRoots service and purchase coverage, you must meet the following criteria:
We reserve the right to verify your eligibility and suspend or terminate your account if we determine that you do not meet these requirements.
RideRoots offers three tiers of parametric coverage. All stated prices include Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) at the standard rate of 12%.
Parametric Triggers: A payout is automatically triggered when the official TfL status API reports "Severe Delays", "Part Closure", or "Suspended" on your registered route for a continuous period of 15 minutes or more during your active commute window.
Eligibility: To receive a payout, the disruption must meet the 15-minute minimum threshold on your registered route while you have an active subscription or have paid the per-trip premium.
Limits: Monthly claim limits apply based on your tier. Please refer to your policy schedule for exact limits.
Timeline: Approved payouts will be credited to your RideRoots wallet or default payment method within 24 hours of the disruption being verified by our system.
Disputes: If you believe a disruption was missed, you may raise a dispute through our internal complaints process. If unresolved, you have the right to refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).
Fraud: Fraudulent claims will result in immediate account termination, forfeiture of premiums, and may be reported to law enforcement under the Fraud Act 2006.
Cooling-Off Period: Under the Consumer Insurance (Disclosure and Representations) Act 2012, you have a statutory right to cancel your policy within 14 days of the contract start date or the date you receive your policy documents, whichever is later.
Refunds: If you cancel within the cooling-off period, you will receive a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of your premium, provided no claims have been made.
How to Cancel: You may cancel your subscription at any time via the "Subscription" section in the RideRoots app or by emailing support@motisure.com.
Wallet Balance: Funds held in your RideRoots wallet are used to facilitate payouts and premium collections. Please note that your wallet balance does not constitute electronic money (e-money) and is not protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
Payment Processing: All payments are processed securely by our third-party payment provider (e.g., Stripe). We do not store your full card details.
Authentication: In compliance with the Payment Services Regulations 2017, Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) may be required for certain transactions to prevent fraud.
Savings Pot: The RideRoots savings feature allows you to allocate payouts or round-ups to a dedicated pot. This is not a regulated savings account or a bank account. Funds are held by RideRoots Limited as a facilitator.
Pension Contributions: If you utilize the pension routing feature, RideRoots acts solely as a facilitator to transfer funds to your designated pension provider. RideRoots is not a pension provider or financial advisor.
No Guarantees: Past accumulation of savings or payouts does not guarantee future returns or disruption frequencies.
Your privacy is important to us. We process your personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Lawful Basis: We process your data primarily to perform our contract with you (providing insurance and processing claims) and for our legitimate interests (fraud prevention and analytics).
Data Sharing: We query TfL systems for disruption data, but we do not share your personal data with TfL. We share necessary data with our payment processors and, if applicable, your pension provider.
For full details on how we collect, use, and protect your data, please read our Privacy Policy.
We aim to provide excellent service, but if things go wrong, we want to put them right.
Internal Process: Please send complaints to complaints@motisure.com. We aim to acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days and resolve it within 8 weeks.
Financial Ombudsman Service: If you are unhappy with our final response, or if 8 weeks have passed, you may refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service, Exchange Tower, London, E14 9SR (www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk).
These Terms and your relationship with RideRoots Limited are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales.
